Choosing to take a package holiday can offer you a better deal than buying each element of a holiday separately. Very often, the benefits can be better in terms of what you get for your money, but they are also generally better in terms of the safety of what you’re buying too.
When you purchase a package holiday, all the various elements such as hotels and flights are packaged together into a single group and paid for as one deal. Your arrangement is with just one company, and they take care of all the administrative headaches and organisation of gathering everything together for you from flights to hotels, transfers, car hire, and more.
When you go the alternative route and arrange each element separately, you pay for each item of your holiday independently dealing with a number of different companies. Trying to organise all the different elements at the same time can be stressful, and in the long run can actually work out more expensive because as an individual you can’t generally get the price deals that large operators can do on things. Even if there is no immediate financial gain, there are other things to consider too.
It’s not just the stress of organisation, arrangement and finances that are at stake either. If anything were to go wrong or there was a problem with any single element of your holiday from car hire to hotel or flight etc., then if you’ve booked it all yourself, you have the responsibility of fixing the problem with the company.
With a package deal, however, the firm who you have booked the package with are responsible for managing any problems for you.
They have an obligation to look after you and your family, and all your arrangements both before you travel, and while you’re away, so if the airline you’re booked to travel with went bankrupt or went on strike the day you were due to fly home, then it would be up to them not you to arrange a substitute flight, and to adjust things with the transfer from hotel to airport, and even to make sure you had somewhere to stay if the flight couldn’t be booked for the same day and you needed to stay an extra night or two because of the situation.
Imagine having to deal with any or all of these things yourself instead of just phoning the tour operator, and it becomes instantly clear why package deals are so beneficial.
